Hahli Blair was once one of the greatest black mages that Ul'dah had ever seen, and had achieved infamy across Eorzea for his unmistakable power and strength in saving the nation from certain destruction. He has since fallen very far from grace, having died on the battlefield at the hands of someone he thought was his friend, his partner in crime, and someone he thought he loved. After his resurrection and amnesia, he has begun a new journey of regaining his memories, taking back what is his, and avenging his own death, finding the one who betrayed him so.
Born an only child to Beloix and Milera Blair in a quaint little beach town in Costa del Sol, Hahli was a rebellious and cranky child. His father Beloix was incredibly strict on him, and always pushed for his son to follow on the Blair legacy of mastering coloured magic arts. Black magic was heavily frowned upon and feared by Beloix and Milera, and as such, Beloix attempted to drill into Hahli’s head that black magic was a forbidden art to never be touched. Of course, going against his father’s wishes, Hahli read up on thaumaturgy and black magic whenever he could, sneaking in books from the library and paying visits to the thaumaturge’s guild whenever he was able to go to Ul’dah. Hahli was never a fan of the beachy vibe and environment of home, and would sulk around in the shade whenever festivities were going on. He was incredibly sullen and brooding, which would remain a constant throughout his growing up.As Hahli grew into an adult, he moved out of the family home instantly, and made haste to the thaumaturge’s guild in Ul’dah. He befriended the Coco brothers very quickly, and soon learned he indeed had what it took to master the dark arts. He rose up the ranks and soon became a teacher’s aid, assisting the Coco brothers in their demonstrations. Eventually, he was made to move on from the thaumaturge’s guild when his powers grew too advanced for the budding students. He trained under Kazagg Chah, and became a master black mage. His power and prowess grew throughout Ul’dah, and he was revered, borderline worshipped. It was during this point in his life did Hahli discover that he possessed The Echo. With his existing power, as well as some of the handful of friends he made on his journey, Hahli soon founded the Cross of Skulls, an underground guild for casters all over Eorzea. In this guild, Hahli and the other members would obtain literature on ancient, forbidden and illegal spells across disciplines. Almost all of these spells are not taught in normal lessons, and are considered criminal in nature if practiced for no reason. Every Cross of Skulls member has their own signature spell that they learned from this pool of forbidden spells. Hahli’s signature is called “Life Holder”, an illegal spell that allows the caster to hold the enemy's very aether in their hands, form it into a crystal, and do with as they please. This was a spell he insisted on mastering on his own, but seemed to suffer excruciating internal pain and bleeding from, due to how much of his aether it used. With his guild established, recruitment of new mages was frequent. He made friends and made enemies. Hahli’s closest two friends from this guild are a Hyur named Gaia, and a Lalafell named Aspen. Two notable characters from his guild are a sibling Elezen pair from The Dusk Vigil, Coerthas, going by Alisa and Dimitri Gotonov. While they did not join together, as Aralise joined first, they were in the guild at the same time for a few years. Hahli was quite fond of Alisa, which she was aware of, and hoped to use his infatuation with her to progress up the guild ranks. Dimitri, on the other hand, proved to be a massive thorn in Hahli’s side, and he was forced to kick the Elezen out of the guild eventually, which soured relations between them. This also inadvertently soured Alisa’s feelings towards Hahli. As Hahli progressed his power and journey throughout Eorzea, it was while in Sharlayan with his most loyal mages did the Battle of Carteneau call his attention. The war was just beginning to wage, and as such, Hahli called upon his entire guild to assist the Eorzean forces in battle. As Hahli was at the frontline of his party, Alisa decided now was prime opportunity to eliminate her competition. Behind his back, she cast a deathly spell against the Viera, and ended his life, under the front of it being one of the Garlean empire’s weapons. Gaia noticed Hahli deceased at the front of the guild, and Aspen had personally watched her cast the life draining spell against their leader. While Alisa was distracted, Gaia and Aspen collected Hahli’s corpse, as well as a handful of their white mages, and made haste to a more secure location while the rest of the guild fought the war.At their secure location now, Gaia and Aspen ordered their accompanying mages to draw out a sigil and to help them chant a never-before cast resurrection spell. Since the incantation was so long and took an hour to do, the white mages were unable to cast their healing spells on Hahli’s body to keep the corpse as fresh as possible. Having been able to do so while transporting his lifeless body, the decomposition process was slowed down significantly, but that crucial hour during the incantation would mean permanent side-effects when Hahli would eventually draw breath once more. As his body rose from the sigil, his heart began to beat, his brain awoke and his lungs drew breath. He had resurrected successfully, but he suffered side effects. His colour had now darkened significantly, his hair went a vibrant lavender to a dreary dark purple, his skin had greyed and his sunny yellow eyes had turned a ghostly white. His freckles, lips, nose, around his eyes, fingers and toes had also darkened significantly due to the blood loss and delay in keeping his blood circulating. His lungs had also sustained damage from the blood loss, and it could be heard when Hahli forcefully exhaled to vacate his body of excess air. Lastly, his brain had sustained the most injury, and his memories had entirely been wiped. Upon his awakening, he did not recognise Aspen, or Gaia, or anyone else in the guild. He had forgotten his name, all his skills, everything he ever did in the last 35 years of his life. The last thing he saw before passing out once more was Alisa’s footsteps into the base the mages gathered at.Upon waking up once more, Hahli found himself all alone in the Thanalan wilderness, with barely any clothes on his back and a wand. Having no memories, he had only his Echo to aid him in his journey now, which he started from scratch upon making his way back to the thaumaturge’s guild. He would spend the next decade rebuilding his skills and reputation. Thankfully this wasn’t a difficult task due to his existing reputation, and it took time for him to be recognised once more, but eventually, the news of his resurrection spread around Eorzea, and eventually, his father, Beloix. Hahli would soon also reunite with Gaia, his most loyal mage. His Echo gave him back all his memories of the Hyur, and they rekindled their bond and relationship. It was during an expedition to Costa del Sol did Hahli also come across a budding Scion named Demitus Arcanu, a proficient summoner. The two didn’t become friends immediately, but they kept each other company for the day. It was here that Hahli decided to visit his old childhood home, ultimately finding the majority of the village in ruin from the Battle of Carteneau and the Garlean empire a jog away. Eventually, Demitus witnessed Hahli reuniting with his father… just his father. Beloix had to inform his son that Milera had been killed during the battle. Naturally, this broke Hahli completely. Unable to show his mother his efforts thus far, as well as his now revived state, Hahli would never live his regret down for disobeying her and giving her attitude as a child.Jaded and full of anger, Hahli ultimately then decided it was time to exact his revenge on the woman who took his life senselessly. With Gaia by his side, the Viera made his way back to the Cross of Skulls base, where Alisa had become defacto leader of the group. He met her outside the guild, and they fought fiercely with their magic. Hahli, however, had recently remembered how to conduct Life Holder, and so decided to do so. He extracted Alisa’s soul and aether and formed it into a crystal in his hand. He crushed then crushed the crystal in his hand, before tossing the shards onto the ground and stamping them into fine dust with the heel of his boot. Alisawas now permanently gone, and could not be resurrected like Hahli was. Additionally, Hahli didn’t notice that Life Holder no longer physically hurt him to cast, and while he still bled from the mouth, the liquid was now a jet black, and the spell was more potent. His now undead form gave him a new advantage in casting such a deathly spell.Having exacted his revenge, and having taken back what was rightfully his, the Cross of Skulls, Hahli could now be more at ease. At this, he decided to aid Eorzea in giving his services to adventurers in need. He became a party leader and mission manager, where he’d receive applications from adventurers and organise a party for missions. He works very closely with Demitus now, as when he receives missions from the Scions, Hahli would organise the party to go through with the mission. Hahli has met his fair share of characters through his work like this, including names like Niene, Lase and E’mhati, and names he’d discover for missions, such as Viervich and Vayanardi, who would later join his regular parties. During a trip to Ishgard with Demitus, Vaya and Viervich, Count Edmont de Fortemps accepted the four as wards, and for compensation, Demitus and Hahli offered their services to the count and his sons. While Demi was tasked with assisting Artoirel, Hahli aided Emmanellain. It was from this moment and progressive contact with each other did Hahli and Emmanellain have a building romance. It came to fruition after the Grand Melee of Ishgard.During the coming of the Final Days, Hahli separated from Vaya, Demitus and Viervich to stay in Old Sharlayan to study under his father, Beloix. It was here where he felt his depression grip on him further, and that culminated into an attempted taking of his own life, as well as nearly succumbing to the Blasphemy. Surviving these things, Beloix figured it was time to try and right things with his son, and so the two spent more positive times together, and any teaching Hahli needed, was given by Beloix's coworker, a sagecraft professor named Master Radu Dracul.Hahli suffers headaches often due to lasting effects of his resurrection, as well as The Echo. Additionally, one can hear him exhaling through his mouth often to empty his lungs. As an undead, he doesn’t need to sleep, but he does rest, in that he lays on the bed with his eyes closed for an hour or so tops, mostly to relax and recuperate. His body is cold to the touch, and his hands shaky sometimes. He has a hard time gripping small things as a result of this, but is fine with gripping larger objects. Despite his very androgynous appearance, Hahli is very masculine, and has a very deep voice, which, combined with his occasional rolling of his r’s, freaks people out.Despite his creepy appearance and somewhat off-putting temperament, Hahli does have some more positive attributes. He's a hopeless romantic to anyone who can win his heart and look past his undead vibe, who he grows to love and be attracted to. When he finds someone to have a conversation with, he does loosen up and talk with them quite eagerly. He softens up significantly around animals as well, and it's very noticeable. During one of his Ul'dah city visits, a Hyur lady gifted him with an axolotl eft, after which Hahli sat and played with the little creature for an hour.

Well hello hello! If you made it this far, thanks for reading my dead boy's story! Hahli Blair is an alt of mine, as my main is my Elezen, Vaya. I much prefer doing Discord RP, with paragraph format, however, am willing to experiment in game too.A little about Hahli within RP:
While he is in an NPC ship with Emmanellain, I am more than willing to explore OC ships with him too. He's a very big romantic when he finds someone who can look over his undeath. Sexual stuff is optional, but not really a priority for him, as he borders on asexual most of the time. Hahli's story is very emotional and angst-driven, so if you think you can handle that or would like to explore it with me, feel free to hit me up! I'm always down to RP with him.
